Broad and engaging on the nose, this beautifully indulgent release suggests aromas of sage, rosemary, cherry, mocha, licquorice and tar. Velvety and concentrated in the mouth with a warm, round, generous quality, the flavour profile is dominated by ripe plums, red berries, chocolate, spice and leather. Aged for two years in oak before release and then a further two years in bottle, this wine has mellowed and harmonised but will still age well over the next decade and beyond. A delicious wine to pair with strong cheeses and rich red meat dishes.£4.33 per 100.00ml
Located in the area region of Basilicata, Cantine del Notaio is one of southern Italy's most revered and acclaimed estates. This particular release is the producer's flagship wine, made from late harvest Aglianico grapes located on steep volcanic slopes in the famous DOCG of Aglianico del Vulture. By leaving the grapes to ripen for an extended period of time on the vine, the resultant wine is incredibly full-bodied and rich with a sweet ripeness and a sumptuous character that is reminiscent of Amarone.
