The Lammershoek "Celler Foot" range is a series of small production wines that push the boundaries in wine making and concentrate on unusual and interesting varieties. This particular wine is produced from the variety Mourvedre which is more often used as a blending component and uncommon to find in South Africa. Produced from a single parcel of old vine fruit, this wine expresses an amazing savoury, spicy, leathery depth which combines with dark blackberry fruit and morello cherry notes. Structured and firm, this is very much a food-friendly red that will benefit from decanting and also has the potential to age over the next decade.£5.67 per 100.00ml
With wine production at this estate dating back to the 1750's, Lammershoek have some of the oldest vines and vineyards in the Swartland area of South Africa. Under current running Lammershoek is a completely organic and sustainable operation, adopting an approach of minimal intervention which bypasses the addition of unnecessary chemicals or use of new oak. The range of wines produced display great balance, intensity and elegance with a distinctly French influence.
