Achaval-Ferrer is the result of a group of Argentinian and Italian friends coming together with one aim in mind. They had set their sights on producing world class wine in Argentina; wines which would offer exceptional quality, whilst remaining faithful to their origins. Old, low yielding vines, with restricted production are both key to Achaval-Ferrer’s iconic style, and have propelled the wines to an international cult status and won a plethora of richly deserved awards. This Malbec is the producer’s outstanding entry level wine. It is from old vines, with low yields and relatively high altitudes, which account for its heady perfume and heightened aromatics. Aromas of berries, cherries and savoury nuances grace the nose, complemented by pepper, juniper and pink pepper. Elegantly balanced and tightly structured on the palate, this wine displays perfumed spice and juicy berry notes which are complemented by spicy oak and complex herbal notes. Persistent and evolving on the finish, this outstanding red is the perfect pairing with steak, burgers and BBQ dishes.
