The House of Agrapart et Fils was founded in 1894 and is today run by Pascal and Fabrice Agrapart. The two brothers are widely recognised to have taken the house to new heights through their keen focus on natural viticulture and their desire to produce beautiful wines which clearly express terroir. The house produces three different vintage champagnes, all with remarkable different characters. Minéral is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes sourced from 40-year old vines from two vineyards in Avize and Cramant. The vicinity of these two vineyards means they share almost exactly the same soil composition; a hard, white chalk underneath a mere 30 centimetres of topsoil which provides the wine with its character. Mineral, as the name suggest, is the most slaine and racy of the wines in the range. Firm and delicate nose, this wine has a pronounced chalky minerality which pairs perfectly with its wonderfully pure fruit profile and complex autolytic top notes. On the palate it is powerful and vibrant, with a refreshing backbone of acidity and beguiling flavours of hazelnut, dried pears, smoke and crushed rocks. Dry and linear on the finish, this food-friendly fizz would pair delightfully well with fresh shellfish and white meat dishes.
