Cape Point Sauvignon Blanc is one of South Africa’s finest examples of this grape variety. It is a blend of 80% Sauvignon from the lower vineyard slopes (providing the fresh, focused Sauvignon) and 20% of higher slope, 'super concentrated Sauvignon' and 'awesome estate Semillon', as the wine makers puts it. The 20% is barrel-fermented in large old oak and then the whole blend is kept on its lees for a further nine months. The wine itself is a wonderfully intense white that exhibits a nose of green pepper, asparagus, white blossom and tropical fruit along with a rich and full-bodied palate that is crisp, structured and impeccably balanced. Although perfect to drink now, Cape Point Sauvignon has an unusual capacity to age and will improve over the next 2-3 years.£2 per 100.00ml
