Few winemakers represent the revolutionary changes in Swartland, South Africa as David and Nadia Sadie. David, born and bred in Swartland, gained vineyard management and winemaking experience while working for some of the top estates of South Africa as well as internationally before setting up the David Sadie winery together with his wife Nadia. The couple’s immense dedication to the Mediterranean Cultivars and traditional winemaking can be seen in every single wine and vintage, and praise and acclaims have been no way near shy. David Sadie is definitely a name to watch.
A very well-crafted blend of Syrah, Carignan and Grenache reflecting the Swartland’s affinity with Rhone varieties, this blend was fermented with natural yeast and raised in used French oak with minimal intervention. It has a very lively bouquet offering wild strawberry, hints of rhubarb, fennel and black pepper. The palate is well-balanced with fine tannins and very well-judged acidity. There is good weight in the mouth with hints of bell pepper infusing the black fruit and a feisty, spicy finish that you want to keep returning to.£4.8 per 100.00ml
