This entry level release makes a great introduction to this grape and is brimming with character and charm. Peppery and lifted on the nose, aromas of rose petal, leather, earth, smoke and plums are all evident. Full bodied and structured on the palate, elegant savoury flavours of dried fruit, basil, mineral and nutmeg come to the fore ahead of a good length, grippy finish. A great wine to pair with food, this wine works particularly well with rustic, hearty dishes that are flavoursome and comforting.£2.33 per 100.00ml
The grape variety Plavac Mali is native to Croatia and is responsible for some of the country's greatest red wines. Tannic and complex in character, the wines produced often need time in barrel and bottle to soften and build complexity, after which they take on a savoury, floral, multi-layered profile. This excellent example is produced by traditionalist Croatian winemaker Frano Milos, one of Croatia's most pioneering and respected winemakers. Producing only a couple of thousand bottles per year, Milos is a truly boutique operator who deals solely with the Plavac Mali grape.
