Janneau was founded in 1851 and represents one of Armagnac’s oldest and most award-winning houses. Janneau’s vast stocks and unparalleled collection of aged single barrel Armagnacs enable the producer to release a number of rare vintage releases from particularly favourable years. This release originates from the Ténarèze region and is the result of the single distillation of the Ugni Blanc variety. The Golden Age is a limited edition single cask Grand Armagnac that was distilled in 1964 and bottled in 2014. Only 500 half litre bottles were made, each bearing a unique individual number. Attractive and pronounced on the nose, aromas of ripe stone fruit, prunes, orange peel and white blossom combine with a multitude of complex developed rancio undertones. Velvety smooth and incredibly intense in the mouth, a cascade of fruit and nut nuances slowly unwind on the mid-palate, leading to an explosively flavoursome and spectacularly long finish. A wonderful addition to any spirits collection, this rare release would also make a special birthday present or anniversary gift.
