Established in 1776, Louis Roederer is one of the few remaining completely independent, family owned, large Champagne houses. By 1876 the House had achieved such a reputation for quality that the second Louis Roederer was asked by Tsar Alexander II to create a new Champagne, Cristal, for the exclusive use of the Russian Tsars. Cristal Rosé is made exclusively from the best grapes of Louis Roederer’s own ‘Premier Cru’ vineyards which are all organically farmed. Made from a blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, a proportion of the wine was vinified in oak with weekly batonnage (stirring by hand), giving the wine a full, round body and texture that is characteristic for the House style. On average the Roederer Cristal Rosé champagne is aged for six years in the cellars of Roederer and left for another eight months to rest after disgorging in order to attain the perfect balance. On the nose this wine has a generous bouquet with predominant complex aromas of figs, raspberries and wild strawberries. In the mouth its texture is full, round and refined with a remarkable freshness, giving an impression of great finesse and elegance. Long. linear and powerful on the finish, whilst delightful to enjoy now, this special wine will continue to evolve and improve over the next 20 years and beyond.
