The Peller family have been making wine in the Niagara Peninsula for three generations. This unique area is the only location in the world where summers are warm enough for red wine production, yet the winters are cold enough to make Icewine. The grapes for Peller’s Icewines are always handpicked at temperatures of at least -10ºC whilst the grapes remain frozen on the vine. Once picked, the grapes are pressed immediately while still frozen which produces not only high sugar content, but also induces complex flavours to develop in the resulting wine. Golden-yellow in colour, the nose delivers an aromatic medley of lemon marmalade, caramelized oranges and golden pineapple along with a touch of honey. Rich, weight, and luscious in the mouth, it exhibits indulgent flavours of apricot, golden pineapple, star anise and brown sugar. Sweet citrus and star fruit linger on the long finish, with the acidity and sweetness in perfect proportion.
