Winston Churchill’s favourite Champagne house was founded in 1849 by Pol Roger who from the very start favoured a dry-styled Champagne, knowing it was the preference of the English palate. Ever since that time, the house has produced wines of tremendous quality, class and balance.
A blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, and only produced in the years when both growing and harvest conditions are perfect. The 2004 vintage shows a deep intensity of salmon pink colour and a fine stream of bubbles. The aromatic nose is filled with ripe fruits of citrus, blood orange, pomegranate and small wild red berries. On the palate this wine has a creamy texture and a delicate freshness, the ripe fruit aromas are beautifully intermingled with the ones of vanilla, nuts and gingerbread.
