Produced from low yielding old vines and produced in a biodynamic method, Batàr is aged in French oak for 9-12 months before being bottled, and spends a further period of time resting in bottle before release. Whereas the majority of Italian wines are designed to be drunk young, this exceptional release ages exceptionally with time, acquiring complexity and opulence. Restrained and delicate, the nose offers subtle suggestions of white flowers, waxed lemons, grapefruit and a whiff of vanilla. Mid-bodied and silky in the mouth, Batàr has a beautiful sense of balance and depth, suggesting flavours of stone fruit, cream, mineral and almond. Structured and linear, this is a highly versatile wine to pair with a wide range of dishes, but is particularly at home when enjoyed with seafood dishes, pork or poultry.
