Quinta do Vale Meão is the legacy of one of Portugal’s greatest female entrepreneurs, the legendary Dona Antonia who built the 300 hectare large wine estate in 1877. The estate has ever since been managed by her descendants and is today considered to be one of the first growths of Portugal, and by far one of the most famous and prestigious wine making properties of the Douro Valley, making some of the county’s most sought after and highly-rated wines.
Made from a blend of 55% Touriga Nacional, 35% Touriga Franca, 8% Tinta Barroca and 2% Tinta Roriz, the Monte Meão 2012 is very concentrated in colour, the nose is showing deep and complex with many aromatic nuances. It is vibrant with a great elegance and excellent integration of wood, balancing the rich and concentrated dark berry fruit palate. A long-lasting wine, showing a fresh character and with dense, dark tannins and intense floral fruit. A wine that will age for many years.
