This particular Mezcal is produced in the village of Matatlan, known as the “World Capital of Mezcal”, by Master Mezcalero Zosimo Mendez whose family has been producing Mezcals for generations. The lowland climate with its warmer volcanic soil helps to produce more herbaceous, earthy and vegetal Mezcals. Double distilled in a copper pot, each roast produces around 1000 litres. This Mezcal is a great introduction to the spirit, showcasing all the classic characteristics of a quality Mezcal, with big, bold, smokey flavours mingling into an earthy feel with a bite of toffee apple ending with a peppery warmth. Sip neat or use as a base for classic cocktails with a twist such as a Mezcal Manhattan or a Mezcal Old Fashioned.
