Established in 1850 by Gaston Briand, Ragnaud-Sabourin is one of the most prestigious estates in Cognac. Family owned to this day, the vineyards lie in the heart of the Grande Champagne area, where the chalky slopes bring a distinctive power to the base grapes. Unusually, all of the Cognacs are matured as vintage expressions; there is no blending between years, no sweetening and no colouring. The name of each release in the Alliance range refers to the minimum age of the cognac contained in the bottle. VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) is a Cognac classification that designates a blend in which youngest brandy must be aged for at least four years in cask. However, in this case, VSOP Alliance No.10 signifies a blend of cognacs at least 10 years old. Golden yellow in colour, a subtle yet attractive nose suggests hints of orange blossom, citrus zest, vanilla and oaky spice. The palate is mellow and honeyed with a multi-dimensional medley of honeyed oak and dried fruit flavours. Fruit-driven, with some elegant development, this is an exceptional example of V.S.O.P Cognac.
