This wine is deeply sweet, silky in texture and incredibly complex in flavour. Focused and intense on the nose, exotic aromas of mango, pineapple, peach, honey and white blossom come to the fore. Full and textural in the mouth with an acute sweetness, this wine has incredible concentration and a broad medley of tropical flavours that persist through to a lengthy finish. An incredibly impressive example, this wine can be paired with a number of fruit based desserts or enjoyed on its own at the end of a meal.
Owned by a Cistercian monastery and possessing prestigiously placed old vine vineyards in the Kamptal region, Schloss Gobelsburg is a historic Austrian winery. Founded in 1171, the estate was run by the monks themselves up until 1995. Since then winemaking and management responsibilities were taken over by talented winemaker Michael Moosbrugger and the leap in quality has been dramatic. This wonderful Eiswien - more commonly known as Icewine - is produced from late harvest Grüner Veltliner grapes that were picked whilst frozen on the vines.
