Established in the early 1990’s, Seresin is regarded as one of New Zealand’s finest wine producers as well as a leading name in organic and biodynamic production. Michael Seresin's passion for wine was ignited after exploring the wines that Italy had to offer during his visits to his second home in the Tuscan hills. After initially toying with the idea of establishing a winery in Italy during the early 1990s, his attention was soon diverted back to his homeland of New Zealand. Employing a traditional, gentle and philosophical approach to winemaking, everything on the Seresin estate is hand tended and hand-picked using as little intervention as possible. Seresin Gewürztraminer is an excellent example of this distinctive grape variety and ranks amongst New Zealand’s very best. Produced from hand-picked fruit taken exclusively from the estate’s Raupo Creek vineyards, a small proportion of the wine was fermented in French oak imparting additional texture and complexity. On the nose hallmark aromas of rose petals, fresh lychee and a hint of ginger come forth, whilst the palate is mouth-coating and dry with orange blossom, toasted almond and vanilla bean flavours evident. Crisply balanced and long on the finish, this exotic and aromatic wine would be a fine match with sushi and Thai dishes as well as subtle cheeses.
