Founded in 1970, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars has a long and distinguished wine reputation and are considered a Napa Valley first-growth estate. Over the years, these wines have become some of the most highly regarded and collected wines worldwide, resolutely fashioned to express classic elegance, structure, and ageability, and to reflect the place in which they are grown. This wine is named after the Greek goddess of the hunt, Artemis, and pays reference to the producer’s “hunt” to locate and harvest only the finest grapes in the Napa region. This approach results in a wine of lush fruit flavors balanced by extraordinary structure, finesse and elegance and demonstrates how astute grape selection and skillful blending can create a wine that represents the sum of Napa Valley’s best Cabernet Sauvignon parts. On the nose inviting aromas of red currant and cranberry are mixed with hints of vanilla, tobacco, leather and dried herbs. On the palate, the wine has a soft entry with dried cherry, blackberry, currant and savory herb flavors balanced with silky tannins and fresh lively acidity. Structured, firm and long on the finish with great length and an evolving flavour profile, Artemis is a wonderfully food-friendly wine that would suit a range of dishes including steak, roast lamb, braised short ribs or pasta with wild mushrooms and prosciutto.
