New to the UK, Tincup American Whiskey is the brainchild of Colorado-based Jess Graber, a hobby distiller for 30 years until turning full-time in 2004. Made using Mid-Western grains, aged in new charred American Oak barrels, and cut with Rocky Mountain water, stylistically Tincup has a Bourbon style profile, but with a more powerful and spicy flavour due to the high rye mash bill. The name is a reference to Colorado's first whiskey drinkers - the miners that came through looking for gold and drank their whiskey from tin cups. Sweet and spicy on the nose, a warm and smooth palate reveals layers of candied fruit, vanilla, clove and caramel. A highly drinkable and immensely rewarding whiskey, Tincup is equally as delicious to drink neat as it is mixed. In addition to the stunning art deco bottle, the unique cap doubles as a tasting cup.
