Located close to Hiroshima, Chugoku Jozo has been producing a range of liquors, sakés and schochus for almost a century, and finally decided to release its own blended whisky in 1990. Chugoko Jozo’s master blender actually sources the distillates (malt and grain) following scrupulous criteria and an attention for detail. He then personally takes care of maturation and blending processes, adding its special Japanese touch. The whiskies are aged in both sherry and brandy casks, within a unique setting: a 361-meter long tunnel dating back to 1970, which offers perfect maturation conditions (a constant temperature of 14°c and 80% humidity). This rare 18 Year Old expression shares a flavour profile similar to a lowland Scottish whisky, with a floral and fruity complexity set against savoury oak notes. An elegant and rewarding release for whisky enthusiasts.
