Born as recently as 2008, WhistlePig was created by Raj Peter Bahkta, who sunk his last dime on a 500 acre farm in Shoreham, Vermont. He convinced ace master distiller Dave Pickerell (known for his work at Maker’s Mark) to work with him, plotting the long-awaited return of rye whiskey to The States. On January 1st 2010, Raj and family cleared out an old barn, rolled up their flannel sleeves, and started bottling this exquisite rye. The WhistlePig single-estate farm distillery opened in the summer of 2015, transforming what was once a pig-headed dream into a top-shelf reality. This exquisite 15 year old rye is the oldest release yet from WhistlePig, and uniquely spends a finishing period in Vermont oak barrels, which have been given a long toast and heavy char. This oak type acts as a differentiator that imparts nuanced flavors from tighter grain patterns. The resulting release is spectacularly rich, spicy and luscious with an incredible smoothness and seamless balance. A new addition to the UK and available only in small quantities, WhistlePig 15 Year Old Rye is a must-try for American whisky enthusiasts and collectors.
