Commenting on the announcement, Harvey Nichols Group Concessions and Beauty Director, Daniela Rinaldi, who is leading the development of Beauty Bazaar said,
“Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols will be the first one-stop destination for all things beauty. This truly unique space, spread across three floors, will house the very best brands in the market, alongside the very latest services that will ensure grooming of the highest level, all within the convenience of a single space.
Globally, this will be the first time international and premium brands will be housed within such a luxurious environment, anchored by a fabulous Champagne and Cocktail Bar, to ensure that Beauty Bazaar is an experience like no other. We have created a true lifestyle experience where guests can meet friends and appreciate beauty in an aspirational, educational and service-driven surrounding.
This new direction in retail will return beauty to the luxury proposition that the category once enjoyed; a feel-good experience that will deliver the very best collection of prestigious, niche and exclusive brands and services.
Harvey Nichols has long held a reputation for delivering innovation within the beauty arena; we were first to the market (in the UK and Europe) with M.A.C, Shu Uemura and Trish McEvoy, all game-changers who fundamentally impacted the cosmetics industry. The concept of ‘Lifestyle Beauty’ was also borne via Harvey Nichols with the launch of both Aveda, the first of its kind, and Harvey Nichols’ own Beyond Beauty – a concept which introduced to the UK customer exclusive derma and skincare brands retailed alongside their more natural counterparts. Harvey Nichols continues to pioneer the niche fragrance market with exclusive launches of Tom Ford, By Kilian and Escentric Molecules, that are now so successful for us as a business and within the industry in general.
Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols is our latest innovation and will transform the beauty landscape. It will redefine luxury beauty and be the antidote to the commoditisation of beauty. The concept will allow customers the opportunity to be pampered and preened with the very best top-to-toe treatments available and provide access to the most important brands available in beauty.
From M.A.C, Tom Ford Beauty, Shu Uemura, NARS, Shiseido and Crème de la Mer, to YSL, Aveda, Origins, Elemis, Lancôme, Benefit, Carita, The Organic Pharmacy, ESPA, Clinique, Bliss, Dermalogica, Beyond Beauty and BeautyMART; Beauty Bazaar will be a democratic mix of the very best brands, products and services in the market.
It will be glamorous, exciting and energetic – a compelling beacon of beauty for all.”
Leading London-based graphic and interior design agency, Four IV, have been appointed to deliver this leading-edge retail space. Founding partner Chris Dewar-Dixon comments,
“Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols is no ordinary destination. The concept has been entirely built upon glamour and sophistication; it will be an environment that inspires, with an overwhelming breadth of products and services to stimulate the senses. It will allow you to be you and help define what beauty means to you.”
Miles Dunnett, Head of Asset Management, Grosvenor Liverpool Fund, furthers this:
“Liverpool ONE is the perfect place for Harvey Nichols to launch such an exciting new concept. It sits at the heart of the most charismatic, passionate city in the UK, if not Europe, with an unrivalled love of all things beautiful. Liverpool ONE shares the same energy and outlook, and so we are very excited to be playing host to what is certain to be a sector-defining concept.
“Harvey Nichols’ choice of Liverpool in which to launch this concept is not just about the city’s character though; it is also a great reflection of just how highly regarded Liverpool has become by the very best brands.”
Joseph Wan, Chief Executive at Harvey Nichols, added:
“Last year, Harvey Nichols witnessed an extremely strong year of trading, which brought with it record profits, beating the previous high achieved in 2007/8.
Beauty is an extremely resilient category that is holding up well despite the downturn and the launch of this new concept has evolved from plans to find new avenues for innovative growth. Beauty is the last area in which people rein in their spending during difficult times and we are confident that this concept will be a success and provide us with the opportunity to exploit a gap in the market for standalone, luxury beauty stores.”
Harvey Nichols are very excited to be launching this ground breaking new concept in Liverpool ONE, it represents yet another first for Harvey Nichols.”
