A world of sensory delight awaits you in the Harvey Nichols British Designers Secret Garden. A selection of Britain’s brightest fashion stars have collaborated on a unique horticultural installation that draws inspiration from their Spring/Summer catwalk collections and showcases their extraordinary design talents across a unique, interactive garden space.

Slip inside the Marios Schwab hortus conclusus confessional for an intimate tipple, admire Peter Pilotto’s Perspex sculpture, which draws upon the exotic flora and fauna from their Indonesian travels, or settle in to James Long’s decadent ‘Bamboo Palace’ snug, created in homage to English eccentric Edward James’ surrealist garden, Las Pozas.
Six bespoke Beefeater Gin cocktails accompany the work of the six designers, who also include MBE Lulu Kennedy of Lulu & Co, Mary Katrantzou and Peter Pilotto. Executive Chef Jonas Karlsson has also created a special seasonal salad menu with herbaceous influences designed to complement the cocktails.

Mary Katrantzou reinterprets her signature ‘Balalaika’ print from the Spring Summer 2012 collection to transform the Terrace windows with a stained glass floral projection. The hyperreal design juxtaposes delicate blossoms against industrial design elements, fragmenting and deconstructing the organic forms.

To accompany the design the Fifth Floor bar team have created Mary’s English. Served in a miniature watering can, this thirst quenching tipple beautifully celebrates the vivid prints for which Mary Katrantzou is best known. Combining Beefeater Gin, floral St Germain elderflower liqueur and fresh muddled raspberries, topped with pressed apple and cranberry juice.

Marios Schwab has collaborated with Tom Gallant to create a mysterious, modern-day confession box. The hortus conclusus will conceal its occupants to create an intimate confessional experience: the private made public, the garden shed made sacrilegious.

Complimenting the design The Schwab Martini, is an elegant cocktail, presented in a silver martini glass, which blends Beefeater Gin, Marachino liqueur, pressed lemon and fresh pear juice. This drink beautifully reflects the mysterious metallic influences of Marios Schwab’s Spring Summer 2012 collection.

Roksanda Ilincic’s signature contemporary, clean shapes and sharp colour blocking have been inspired by the vivid hues of Lego blocks for Spring Summer. Roksanda has brought to life these design elements with an extraordinary living, floral planted wall.

Inspired by Brian Eno and Las Pozas – the surrealist garden of English eccentric Edward James, James Long has designed a remarkable Bamboo Palace. Complete with golden pineapples and seating for six; his decadent installation fuses glam rock with kitsch bohemia.

His refreshing James Long Iced Tea drawings inspiration from the exotic, using English ingredients. This delicious punch is served in a sling glass and made using Beefeater 24 Gin, Earl Grey tea syrup topped with fresh apple juice and garnished with a hibiscus flower.

Lulu Kennedy brings her eclectic eye to the Fifth Floor Terrace by redesigning the tabletops with a tropical Bird of Paradise vinyl motif drawn from Maarten van der Horst’s Lulu & Co. collection, complete with flower box centre-pieces for the Terrace tables, brimming with vibrant exotic plants.

In the elegant Lulu Martinez the exotic fruit and spice flavours of Beefeater London Market Gin are balanced with fresh lime, muddled cucumber, green chartreuse and fresh pineapple juice to create this mouth watering ode to Britain’s fashion MBE, Lulu Kennedy.

To complement the designs Executive Chef of the Fifth Floor Restaurant, Jonas Karlsson has created an exclusive seasonal salad menu of delectable dishes including:
