Flowerbomb Extreme

Victor and Rolf Flowerbomb Extreme

Creative duo Viktor and Rolf are well known for their conceptual take on fashion. While their clothes may not be designed for the fainthearted, their explosive floral fragrance Flowerbomb Extreme is sure to get you excited!

In 2005, the designers launched their first fragrance, Flowerbomb, to a prestigious audience of fashion royalty in Paris. An impressive show of models dressed head-to-toe in black merged with a romantic vision of girls dressed in reds and pinks, emphasising the designers approach to design which combines their hard edged approach with a more soft side.  To follow up with the enormous success of Flowerbomb, the new Flowerbomb Extreme Eau de Parfum launches this month; a deeper, more concentrated essence taken from the hearts of a thousand flowers.

The designers are proud of their involvement in creating every element of the Flowerbomb fragrance, from the name, the fragrance, the bottle, and the packaging. The facetted bottle is cut like a diamond, recreating the look of the world's most precious stone and conveying the explosive elements of the fragrance. For the Flowerbomb Extreme, the bottle has been updated to conceal the fragrance behind an amethyst veil.

The fragrance is designed to evoke the charm and magic of love potions, with a voluptuous note of Jasmin Sambac, exquisitely mellowed by Osmanthus and enriched with Vanilla, it envelops the added pleasure of refined Benzoin together with amber and balsam notes, which are magnified by strong voluptuous Patchouli base notes. Perfect for seductive summer evenings.

Flowerbomb Extreme Eau de Parfum is £55 for 50ml, and is available at all Harvey Nichols stores in the UK.

Teeth Wisdom

Swissdent Swissdent Toothpastes

Something the people of the USA have long had over us Brits is their astonishly white teeth and resulting beautiful smiles. What with Tom Cruise donning train track braces in his forties and Simon Cowell seeming to get ever-whiter, brighter teeth ever since he became a TV star over the pond, it seems no-one is averse to this instant facial flattery.

Not to be outdone, Harvey Nichols is exclusively launching Swissdent Whitening Toothpastes - a line of five high quality products that work on giving you white and well-groomed teeth. Swissdent Cosmetics is the brainchild of Dr Vaclav Velkoborsky, and here's the science. The toothpastes are based on revolutionary Nanotechnology, which means the bleaching effects of the ingredients are used to their optimum. Calcium Peroxides, in the form of nano-particles, penetrate even the finest cracks and gaps between the teeth, ensuring effective bleaching.

The Swissdent range includes:

Stainless Toothpaste- an intensive whitening toothpaste for smokers, coffee and tea drinkers.

Mountainfresh Toothpaste - a toothpaste which includes intensive fluorides, minerals and Vitamin E to protect teeth and gums.

Mountainfresh Mouthwash - an intensive mouthwash with long lasting effect to fight bad breath. It stops plaque forming and remineralises the dental enamel.

Nanowhitening Toothpaste - a gentle, whitening toothpaste for sensitive teeth and gums.

Crystal Coating - a new anti-ageing treatment with bioactive minerals. It rebuilds the surface of your enamel with an extra crystal layer and is a perfect enhancing treatment used in combination with other Swissdent bleaching products.

This Spring, make Swissdent a part of your beauty routine then don some oversized sunglasses, grin away and everyone will think you're a star.

Swissdent is available from Beyond Beauty in all Harvey Nichols stores in the UK and Ireland and On-line.

No Cutting Körners

Korner Skincare Korner Skincare

Rebecca Körner, founder of Körner Skincare, was pretty much born into her role. As the third generation of Körners working in beauty care and education, she took on this area of expertise and ran with it, all the way to this luxury range, new to Harvey Nichols this April.

In Australia, Rebecca's family legacy is well known. Her grandmother opened her prestigious Madame Körner clinic in Sydney in the 1950's, and today this skincare institute has grown to a network of salons, beauty training schools and clinical laboratories. Rebecca's heritage and knowledge of salon treatments and therapies spurred her on to develop an effective skincare range that women could use in their own homes.

As is often the case in sunny Australia, Körner Skincare is founded on the belief that sun damage is the greatest cause of ageing. This range of bio-technically advanced products are formulated in Paris using rare and precious plant, marine and mineral extracts that Rebecca sources from around the world. Her aim is to effectively protect, moisturise and calm the skin.

Our favourite is Loaded The Anti-Ager. As the name suggests, this rich cream is packed to the brim with beneficial, natural ingredients, including Körner's signature compound K6 - a blend of six plant and botanical extracts which together soften, moisturise, nourish and protect the skin.

Although the brand is steeped in tradition, this skincare range is definitely focused at today's woman, from the clean-lined packaging to the intensive ingredients loaded with that beauty buzz word - anti-oxidants. Our favourite ingredient of this range however has to be the positive names of the products. From 'Radiate Presence Day Cream' to 'Emerge Luscious Plumping Mask', these products act like daily doses of confidence. As a result, Körner Skincare aims to work on both your inner and outer beauty. Who could ask for more?

Körner Skincare is available at Harvey Nichols London and our online Beauty Shop.

Tom of Finland

Tom of Finland

'Perfume: The Story of a Murderer', a novel by Patrick Suskind (and later a film starring Dustin Hoffman), tells of the intricate and multiple stages a perfumer will deliberate over in the search for a single scent. It is this sense of passion and dedication one gets from Etienne de Swardt, creator of Etat Libre d'Orange (ELO).

Rather than create traditional fragrances however, Etienne is revolutionary in his approach to and expectations of fragrance. He sees fragrance as a source of enjoyment, and something that should provoke the senses. He aims to return to the quintessence of perfume, to its raw animality and erotic energy. Etienne's fragrances are free from censor.

The latest edition to the ELO collection, Tom of Finland, continues this subversive and sensual ideal. It is inspired by an illustrator who worked under the same name in the USA in the 1950's. Tom's art subject was homosexual men, and he created playful images of men as macho heroes unashamed of who they are, at a time when gay men were often perceived as just the opposite.

In creating this modern fragrance, Etienne celebrates the male form and its beauty in the same way. With notes of pepper, geranium and cypress mixed with tonka bean and musk, it is a masculine scent dedicated to modern men who are at ease with their body and attitude. In keeping with rest of the ELO range, Tom of Finland ultimately challenges preconceptions of the body and sexuality, and is a fragrance of freedom.

Tom of Finland is £50 for 50ml and  is available exclusively at Harvey Nichols London and Manchester and our online Beauty Shop.
