Jane Bohane

until 2nd November 2009

The OXO Tower Restaurant is delighted to announce the return of  Jane Bohane exhibiting her work in OXO Tower Restaurant.

Representing the contradictions of life is a central theme in Jane's work and her latest images celebrate a personal perception of the world, where cruel realities lurk behind life's pleasures.

With an almost exclusive use of the macro lens, Jane shifts the scale and context of the subject and presents an intimate glimpse of the familiar. The concealed is exposed and the everyday exaggerated into the unusually interesting.

Jane works from an old victorian potting shed in Ockley, Surrey and welcomes anyone interested to visit her there and view a further selection of photographs as well as her unusual and eclectic glass shard sculptures.

Open studio from the 6th - 21st June. See website below for details.

All the work at the Oxo is available in various sizes, for further details call Jane Bohane on 07855 149566 or email info@janebohane.com

Wings For Tomorrow by
Catherine Wilson

13th June until 31st August 2009

Wings for Tomorrow is an exhibition of paintings by Catherine Wilson, an artist and writer based in London.

The series of oil on canvas works, dating from 2005, focuses on the metaphysical aspect of journeys, times of transition, memory and resilience.  The artist's personal experience of migration, the art of Australasia and the Western Pacific, and the spiritual power of pattern and cloth in the cultures of Senegal (where the artist has traveled and worked with local artists), Mali and the islands of Melanesia and Polynesia are significant influences.

Employing a language that bridges abstraction and figuration, and characterized by saturated colour as well as an intensive process of layering on the surface of the canvas, the artist suggests a phenomenon of reverberation or 'resonance.'  A moment of imminent visual transformation from concealment to revelation, and vice versa, that emphasizes the flux of memories and the 'inbetween' experience of leaving and arrival.

Catherine Wilson, BFA (Hons), Dip World Art, is an artist and writer based in London.  She was born in the Pacific Islands, lived for many years in Australia and now resides in the UK.  She has exhibited her work in Australia, the United Kingdom and Senegal.

For all enquiries regarding this exhibition and the artworks, please contact the artist at:  catherinewilson@hotmail.com
