Flower Show
While colour reigns supreme this Spring and Summer, there are a thousand ways to wear it - as blocks, in prints or with accessories. But probably the easiest is via one of the season's many garden prints. Yes flower power makes a timely comeback as the fashion houses give their favourite floral and botanic decorations an outing.
And if you really like your flowers, head straight to Balenciaga, where Nicolas Ghesquière's collection has really gone into blossom. Huge hydrangeas, roses, daffodils, well you name them, they're growing all over jackets, skirts and dresses at Balenciaga. Not just any old jackets, skirts and dresses of course, but beautifully-crafted pieces that almost resemble armour, so clever is their architectural construction and cut.
At Michael Kors you'll find flowers aplenty too, but as a much softer interpretation. His late 70s vibe gives us lightweight floral dresses in fruity hues that will take you from the garden party to the beach in comfort.
Stella McCartney's take is as pretty and fluttery as anyone's, her wildflower-strewn silk dresses are super-feminine with a hippy inclination. They couldn't be further removed from Balenciaga's tough, floral warriors.
