Colour Up
Just as in the women's ready-to-wear collections, Spring and Summer menswear is awash with colour, designers clearly looking on the bright side. Just about any colour will do, as long as it's in-your-face and vivid.
First stop Burberry Prorsum, where head designer Christopher Bailey has really pushed the colour button. This mac with its jolt of hot scarlet has a surprise in store - it's created from neoprene, a fabric more akin to surf suits than coats, but it works and it's definitely waterproof!
At John Galliano, the military/streetwear/bodypaint style clash of a collection is true to form and of course blends colour into its imaginative mix. At the show this sleeveless hoody in pea green was only out-greened by the model's face paint.
Lanvin's highly coveted collection of soft silks, satins and cottons is more 'boys in blue' - its grey and beige and greige too - but blue is designer Lucas Ossendrijver's chosen accent colour. This sheeny, cobalt polo top is a favourite piece in the line-up.
