StreetSmart, Helping the Homeless

Harvey Nichols was delighted to be involved in StreetSmart's Christmas Campaign in November and December, raising £40,000 across all severn UK based restaurants, helping homeless people off the streets and onto their feet again.

Over 500 restaurants throughout the UK participated in StreetSmart's Christmas campaign, adding a voluntary £1 to the table bill at the end of the meal, which was then passed directly on to StreetSmart. With every penny raised going directly to the people who need it and boasting further support from famous chefs such as Gordon Ramsay, Fergus Henderson and Marcus Wareing, an amazing £435,000 was raised in total.

Glenn Pougnet, Director of StreetSmart said, ' We feel that the £40,000 raised by Harvey Nichols Restaurants across the country is truly outstanding in these times, and could not have been achieved without the hard work of the restaurant staff, and the generosity and goodwill of the customers'.

As such we would like to say thank you to all those who dined with us during November and December and donated.

Harvey Nichols Celebrates the English Strawberry

The sun is shining, Wimbledon is about to start and English strawberries are on the menu once again.  June is the perfect month to celebrate the English strawberry, so why not indulge and simply serve with Champagne, or visit one of the Harvey Nichols Restaurants to sample our Head Chef's take on everyone's favourite fruit.

Louise McCrimmon, Head Chef at the Second Floor Restaurant in Bristol, recommends adding strawberries to a salad of prosciutto and mozzarella then drizzling with balsamic. Alternatively go foraging for elderflowers and make some fritters for the ultimate English summer combination.

Fresh English strawberries are available at the Fifth Floor Foodmarket Knightsbridge, with more unusual varieties on offer including Fraises des Bois and White Strawberries.
