Our brand new Fourth Floor of Fashion is now open at the Knightsbridge store. Surely the most exciting fashion launch of the season, this large space which formerly housed furniture is now home to a new concept in retail, an area where fashion, accessories and lifestyle come together to offer you the best in contemporary style. Here you'll find a dazzling selection of designers, from new kids on the block, Brian Reyes, Sykes and Meadham Kirchoff to US exports Marc by Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and 3.1 Phillip Lim and emerging British talent such as Peter Pilotto, Mary Katrantzou and Richard Nicoll. As well as a Sneaker Wall, debuting hi-tops and plimsolls from the likes of Christian Louboutin, Alejandro Ingelmo and Opening Ceremony, the Lifestyle area is home to a dizzying array of novelty toys, designer headphones, coffee table books, ipods and even Lanvin figurines. The Fourth Floor is now open at Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge. Above from left; dress £1125 Willow and jacket £1750 Elise Overland, striped dress £230 Markus Lupfer. |

With his directional, award winning womenswear, accessory and fragrance collections, as well as his role as Creative Director of Louis Vuitton it's amazing that Mr Jacobs even has time to design menswear. But judging by the results of his latest collections for us chaps, he has given us just as much consideration for spring as the ladies. Starting with the mainline, all the key fashion pieces for the season are there, executed with the signature Marc Jacobs attitude of relaxed fashion authority; the denim jacket, this time bleached and fitted; skinny jeans, perfect for maintaining your rock star credentials; the motorbike jacket; in cotton drill for our blazing summers: the pop art print, you'll have lipstick on more than your collar with these striking shirts & T-shirts; the tuxedo jacket, to add glamour to the mix and finally the how-can-you-live-without-them chinos. Marc by Marc Jacobs, the 'younger' line (although I can't see why there would be an age limit on his plaid shirts and relaxed jeans) explodes for spring with a fusion of American preppy, Grunge rock and Scottish Fair Isle knitting. The ubiquitous motorbike jacket is reworked in chunky ribbed knitwear, tartan shirts are clashed with Fair Isle knitwear, and nu-rave fluorescent hoodies stand off against the glow in the dark logoed t-shirts. So all in all, whatever your fashion predilection there's bound to be something to float your boat sartorially from Mr Jacobs this spring. |

Completely cool and effortlessly wearable, Rick Owens menswear is new to Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge for spring and joins Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs and many others in the International Department.
Owens is renowned for his master pattern cutting skills and for designing clothes that move freely with the body. The Californian designer is now based in Paris and has been clearly influenced by the athletic attitude and high fashion noir of both these settings to create looks that are edgy, fresh and timeless.
Updated classics dominate his Spring/Summer 2010 collection with asymmetric leather jackets, elongated tank tops and drawstring shorts. "I try to make clothes the way Lou Reed does music - with minimal chord changes" Owens says. "It's about a worn, softened feeling. It's about an elegance tinged with the barbaric, the sloppiness of something dragging and the luxury of not caring." The designer's tough aesthetic is completed with industrial zips, bold cuffs and his signature body conscious fabrications.
Rick Owens is available at our London store.
