Mufti, a new department now open on the Fourth Floor at London, attempts to fill a gap in the market that has been left empty and largely ignored by the furniture industry until now. The idea of bespoke home-ware and furniture is an ingenious one because as Michael D'Souza, Mufti's founder puts it,
'You spot a little nook that needs a bookcase, you go tramping all over town looking for the exact size you need. And eventually you find it, but it's in the wrong colour or the wrong wood. And the one in the right wood is six inches taller than you want. So you end up buying something that's not exactly right'.

So Mufti provide a furniture and home accessory customisation service that extends right up to designing the piece for yourself, if you so desire (delivery is in eight to ten weeks); or a full interior design service, with the price refundable against any Mufti purchases made; or you can simply say 'I'd like that lamp, but I want the base to be a foot taller' and Mufti will arrange it.

The Mufti look is a cool, modern one, but with an emphasis on natural but luxurious materials - wood, leather, cashmere and linen are key.
' We've had countless couples come in and say that our design aesthetic is the first one they both actually agree on.' says D'Souza, 'and with the added versatility of our service, we like to think of it as Home Couture'.
