Helping Hand for StudentsSupporting the future of retailHarvey Nichols has once again joined forces with Birmingham City University to support its popular Fashion Retail Management degree course. For the fourth year running, staff from the Mailbox store worked closely with graduate students, offering a scholarship prize for their final exam work, providing advice and knowledge, and organising a champagne party to celebrate their success. A panel of experts decided to award the prestigious Harvey Nichols Scholarship Prize for the most innovative and professional project to Divya Sanghai. Her work, entitled Introducing the High Street India, investigated how to bring on-trend fashion to the country. "Why does India supply all the high street stores around the world but does not have any stores that offers trend-led collections?" she said. "I am from India and enjoy buying trendy fashion, but it is made in India and sold in the UK." Kevin Breese, General Manager of Harvey Nichols Birmingham, said: "As a brand leader, we believe very strongly in helping to promote education in the retail sector. We see this as a way of investing and nurturing our future talent and ensuring this industry continues to attract enthusiastic and dynamic people in the coming years." |

Made to Measure ShoesOliver Sweeney's stylish serviceEver wondered what to buy the man who really does have everything? Or perhaps you're the kind of guy who wants to strut his stuff in fashion that no-one else has? If so, Oliver Sweeney may well have the answer. The cult shoe label - exclusive to Birmingham's Harvey Nichols - has launched a custom-made service in response to customers looking for something unique when it comes to footwear. Giving the sartorial-minded man the chance to express his style and personality through his shoes, the service aims to create the perfect fashion accessory that you won't see on anyone else's feet. Using the successful Anatomical Last as the shape of the shoe, style savvy customers chose what style of footwear they want, either slip-on or lace-up. They then pick from a range of leathers in the colour of their choice as well as the lace options, piping, sole and lining colour. The final touch is added when the customer decides what they want stamped on the sole of the shoe, be it their name, favourite football team or company. Each custom-made pair costs between £345 and £1,000 depending on which design is chosen and are available in sizes six to 14. Delivery from fitting takes between six to 12 weeks. |
