91 points “Elegant aromas of candied lemon peel honeysuckle yellow apple and chamomile palate of dried apricot peach and bitter almond.” – Decanter World Wine Awards 2021
Bottled Italian sunshine is the only way to describe Allegrini’s Lugana Oasi Mantellina 2019.
Allegrini spent years searching for the perfect plot to make this white wine. They found it in 2018 in the municipality of Pozzolengo to the south of the Lugana denomination. The Turbiana vines love the clay soils stretching down to lake as they retain the grape’s crisp acidity. A splash of Cortese is added just to mix things up and create a little more complexity. The result tastes like summer holidays with delicate floral notes hints of almond and plenty of sun-kissed yellow fruit.
Lugana’s summery wines are known for their elegance structure and fragrance. And because of the DOC’s proximity to Lake Garda the wines pair beautifully with fresh fish not to mention shrimp and seafood. However we also love this vegan-friendly white with nut-based cheeses and sauces.
Passed down from generation to generation this family-run winery is now in the capable hands of Franco Allegrini. With over 100 hectares of old vines in prime locations slap bang in the heartland of the region Allegrini’s wines have always been much-loved but over recent years they’re undergoing a remarkable renaissance. So now is the time to get involved…
