The first release in Ardberg’s brand new Anthology Collection, which honours legendary tales of Islay, was inspired by the seldom-seen Harpy, a winged beast said to inhabit Islay. The Harpy’s Tale has been matured for 13 years in rare Sauternes wine casks and then married with ex-Bourbon barrels. The classic Ardberg smoke combines richly with the sweetness from the Sauternes casks to bring a unique and intriguing expression to the Ardberg collection.
With distinct oily aromas, sweet briar wood and aromatic herbs alongside zesty lemon peel, this whisky develops into a rich, sweet and smoky palate with hints of oak moss, treacle, aniseed lozenges and notes of wood, balsamic, smoked apricots and eucalyptus oil resulting in a lingering finale with touches of cumin, cardamom and slithers of coconut.
Bottled at 46% ABV, this amber single malt is an intriguing expression to start the Antholgoy collection and one which will surely attract, entice and seduce those who are tempted in.
