The Balvenie has released a range of whiskies that tell the story of this much-loved distillery and their craftsmanship aptly named The Balvenie Stories. The Week of Peat speaks of the innovative spirit of these Speyside folk. Distillery Manager Ian Millar had visited Islay inspired by the smoky malts he tasted there he promptly ordered some peat. Now each year for just one week The Balvenie Master Distiller David C. Stewart MBE turns his attention to using Highland peat to dry the distillery’s barley.

Aged in American oak and bottled at 14 Years Old this much-loved whisky isn’t like Islay’s iodine-flavoured maritime medicinal malts. Instead it’s lightly floral with notes of manuka honey butterscotch vanilla griddled orange caramel porridge catching and burning roasted coffee and logs on the fire place. It’s Balvenie but maybe not as you know it.

For each whisky in The Balvenie Stories range the distillery has created an audiobook of conversations between Global Ambassador Gemma Paterson and the workers at the distillery about that whisky and David Stewart and Kelsey McKechnie sharing a dram with the people who made it possible. These can be streamed from their website while you settle back into the armchair with a dram.
