Every month Batch Brew release an experimental spirit in their Batch Innovations range. Limited to only a few hundred bottles of each new batch the six-strong team in Burnley Lancashire push the boundaries of craft distillation. Although usually only available to those on their subscription plan Batch Brew have allowed us access to their just-launched Limited Edition Mince Pie Rum.
Inspired by the humble mince pie Batch Brew have taken the finest Caribbean white rum barrel aged it and then infused it with dried fruit ginger and nutmeg – basically everything but the pastry. Rich sweet and as moreish as its namesake Batch Brew’s Mince Pie Rum can be sipped neat alongside festive treats mixed into Christmas cocktails or drizzled over vanilla ice cream. But what we can’t wait to do with it is to make brandy butter swapping the brandy for Mince Pie Rum. We think we’ll listen to Lord Kitchener singing “Drink a Rum” while we do it to get us in the Christmas spirit.
Batch Brew use ethically sourced superior ingredients to handcraft premium spirits. They started in the basement of a terraced house in Burnley Lancashire but now have moved to a renovated mill. Impressing the judges at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2018 they picked up a Double Gold that has rocketed them on to the radar of discerning drinkers around the world.
