818 Tequila Añejo is crafted at a state-of-the-art distillery in Amatitán, Mexico. Blue agave is allowed to grow and ripen for around seven years in the Los Altos and Valles regions. The piñas (or hearts) are then harvested, cooked for 30 hours, crushed with a traditional Tahona wheel, fermented for 48 hours and finally distilled on an alembic copper pot still. The spirit is then aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels for more than a year before being bottled. This is rich sipping Tequila bursting with marmalade, toasted nuts, chocolate-covered toffee, earthy roasted agave, dried herbs, festive spices and pecan pie flavours, plus that cream, vanilla and caramelised brown sugar combo of crème brûlée. We love to sip this silky Tequila neat, but if you want to mix it into cocktails, then think about replacing the whisky or Bourbon in classics like a Manhattan, an Old Fashioned or maybe even a Sour.
