818 Tequila Reposado is crafted at a state-of-the-art distillery in Amatitán, Mexico. Blue agave is allowed to grow and ripen for around seven years in the Los Altos and Valles regions. The piñas (or hearts) are then harvested, cooked for 30 hours, crushed with a traditional Tahona wheel, fermented for 48 hours and finally distilled on an alembic copper pot still. The spirit is then aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels for three months before being bottled. The influence of the wood creates flavours of pecan pie, crème brûlée, floral honey, meringue, roasted agave, grilled peach, poached pear and those fancy French apricot pastries. When it comes to cocktails, think Tequila twists on classics like an Espresso Martini or an Old Fashioned, alternatively sip it alongside the complex flavours of Oaxacan cuisine, chiles en nogada or buttery esquites.
818 Tequila is named after the San Fernando Valley area code in Los Angeles – Kendall Jenner’s home.
