Miltonduff 33 Year Old 1983 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

This 1983 Miltonduff is a 33 Year Old Single Malt bottled Adelphi; one of Scotland’s most acclaimed bottlers of rare and limited edition Scotch. Adelphi whiskies are both incredibly limited and much sought-after; as the rumour goes Adelphi only accepts a mere 4% of the barrels that they are offered. Each single cask matures its contents very differently, imparting its own character to the whisky it holds and, as a result, there are never two Adelphi releases that are quite the same.
Filled into a single cask in 1983, it matured there for more than three decades. When it came to bottling, with so much lost to the angel’s share, it yielded just 168 bottles. And very few of his cask strength elixir remain. It’s brimming with tropical fruit, dried mango, pear drops, windfall apples landing in the long grass of an orchard, buttery shortbread, croissants, muffins dusted with icing sugar, ginger biscuits, coconut, vanilla, milk chocolate, wild flowers and beeswax. Oily and unctuous, yet still fleet of foot across the taste buds, it’s amazingly sprightly for its age.
Miltonduff was established in 1824 about six miles south-east of Elgin in Speyside – an area renowned for the sheer number of illicit distilleries it was home to at the time. Rarely seen these days, most of Miltonduff goes into the world famous blends such as Ballantine’s, Teacher’s and Chivas Regal. Furthermore, most releases distilled between the 1970s and 1990s were bottled as 10 or 12 Year Old expressions. So finding pure Single Malt from this distillery is exceedingly rare, and one of this extreme age, even more so.£53.57 per 100.00ml
