Rebhuhn Dry Riesling 2018 - Aldinger

Rebhuhn Dry Riesling 2018

Weingut Aldinger is widely acknowledged to be the finest producer in Württemberg, near Stuttgart, and is now starting to challenge some of the big players in Germany’s more famous regions. The Aldinger family used to be part of their local cooperative, but broke free in the 1950s to go it alone and make a name for themselves. They’ve never looked back. Now run by the highly experienced brothers Matthias and Hansjörg, Weingut Aldinger is becoming one of German wine’s future stars.

This wine comes from Uhlbacher Götzenberg, a vineyard in Stuttgart’s most picturesque winemaking village – imagine little gingerbread houses surrounded by an amphitheatre-like patchwork quilt of different coloured vineyards. Rebhuhn – meaning partridge – Riesling 2018, is partially fermented in oak using natural yeast. This gives it a wonderful texture that makes it dangerously drinkable. Crisp green apple and ripe greengage give it quite an English orchard feel, and a twist of lime will keep you coming back for another sip. Pair this dry Riesling with spicy food, fatty meats and crunchy salads. And when the weather really hots up, it makes a white wine spritzer to die for, especially if garnished with a slice of lime.
