A Day of Dark Barley 26 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
£650.00
Tasting Notes
The Balvenie has released three whiskies that tell the story of this much-loved distillery and their craftsmanship. A Day of Dark Barley is the oldest expression in this new range and speaks of the arrival at the distillery in 1992 of a batch dark roasted malted barley, like that used to make stout, and the 26-year-long experiment it provoked.
Made with brittle barley and bottled as a 26 Year Old, this is The Balvenie with more oak, smoke and richness than ever before. Heavy with orange peel, spices, soft brown sugar, cinnamon and ginger; this is a forward and festive dram that’s mature and malty. Although sold out in most places, Harvey Nichols still has a few bottles of our allocation left. So, get them while stocks last.
For each whisky in The Balvenie Stories range, the distillery has created an audiobook of conversations between Global Ambassador Gemma Paterson and the workers at the distillery about that whisky, and David Stewart and Kelsey McKechnie sharing a dram with the people who made it possible. These can be streamed from their website while you settle back into the armchair with a dram.
