It’s time for all those other gins that follow the herd to moo-ve aside and make room for Bertha’s Revenge.

These Irish Small Batch Gins were inspired by the story of Big Bertha. This legendary Droimeann cow from Sneem in County Kerry died at the age of 48 having given birth to 39 calves. This earned her two entries in the Guinness Book of Records one for being the oldest cow ever recorded and one for the size of her family. She also became something of a local celebrity and often headed into town for the St Patrick’s Day parade. There was even a wake held in the pub when she died. The only shame was that these gins didn’t exist yet to raise a toast to her.

The three gins in this pack were crafted using Irish milk. The dairy farmers in Cork separate the milk into curds and whey. The curds head off to become cheese and the whey (traditionally considered a waste product) goes off to become the base spirit used in Bertha’s Revenge. The first miniature is Bertha’s Revenge Irish Milk Gin – a classic gin crafted using a mix of foraged and sustainably sourced botanicals. Joining that is a mini bottle of Sloe Gin which was crowned the ‘Best Irish Sloe Gin’ at the World Gin Awards 2022. And finally there’s a punchy Navy Strength Gin bottled at a lip-pursing 57.1% ABV which is the alcohol level at which gunpowder will still light even if it becomes soaked with spirit from broken barrels during the heat of battle.

If you’re looking for a unique present then this is definitely the ‘whey’ to go. They’ll be sipping these happily until the cows come home.
