Bottega’s Pistachio Liqueur is handcrafted using pistachios grown on the volcanic soils surrounding Mount Etna, Sicily. The nuts are shelled and crushed to a paste using traditional methods, which is then mixed with alcohol, water, sugar and just a touch of grappa to create a velvety liqueur that’s so thick that you can almost stand a spoon upright in it. Tasting like liquid pistachio ice cream, fudge and savoury salted nuts, it seems to caress you from the tip of the tongue all the way down. Serve it chilled with desserts (think panna cotta, baklava, pistachio polenta cake, crème brûlée, treacle tart and pastry) or at the end of the meal in lieu of pudding. Mix it into cocktails (it combines beautifully with Irish whiskey or using it to replace the cream in a Brandy Alexander is particularly good and boozy), or simply drizzle it over ice cream (it works wonderfully with Swedish Glace as a vegan option) and scatter with crushed pistachios and rose petals.
