Famed for his ability to select the finest fruit the bespectacled Bruno Giacosa was a sad loss to the fine wine world when he passed away in January 2018 making wines like this even more sought-after. But as Decanter Magazine puts it “his style and standards are being maintained by his daughter Bruna.”
This Barbaresco comes from the Asili vineyard one renowned for the finesse and elegance of its wines. It was a tricky vintage but as Wine Advocate notes: “This estate is known for taking its biggest chances in the so-called off vintages. Betting on 2014 has turned out to be a brilliantly contemplated move.” The word used again and again by the critics is “seamless” it flows across the tongue like a silken wave of wild fruit juicy cherry tangy raspberry dried flowers spices and pencil shavings. Described by Decanter as “a top bottling from a top estate” it’s going to need be served with top food such as wild mushrooms game and truffles.
