Barbera d'Alba 2017
Things are about to get intense. Think ripe prunes, crème de cassis, cherry chocolate, toasted almonds and pink peppercorns. Then turn the volume up.
The Barbera d’Alba from Bruno Rocca harnesses the power of old vines. The grapes come from 50 to 60-year-old vines grown in the village of Neive, Cru Currà and Cru Fausoni. And the result is immense. Consider pairing with rustic stews, slow-cooked lentil dishes, game, spicy pizza and rich ragù. Prepare to have your socks blown off.
Bruno Rocca took over his family’s farm in Rabajà, one of the most prestigious Barbaresco crus, in the 1970s. Totally transforming it, this boutique 15-hectare estate is now creating some of Piedmont’s most fabulous, modern, elegant and organic wines.
