Established in 1932 on Lad Lane in Dublin, Butlers is a family-owned business and one of Ireland’s finest chocolatiers. Marion Butler probably didn’t imagine that her little venture in Georgian Dublin would now employ 400 expert staff and have shops and cafés in far flung places like the Middle East and South Asia. But that’s what happens when you make exceptional chocolate and maintain that ethos for almost a century.

Butlers are committed to responsible sourcing, purchasing their chocolate through a sustainable non-profit organisation called Cocoa Horizons. Their factory is fitted with solar panels that save 247 tonnes of carbon dioxide being produced each year, they try to send zero waste to landfill, and they invest in a project in the Ivory Coast that teaches local women to plant and cultivate cocoa in harmony with their own crops. So, this is not just good chocolate, it’s ethically good too.
