Created by the entrepreneur Bertha González Nieves Casa Dragones is named after the cavalry of San Miguel de Allende who sparked the Mexican independence movement more than 200 years ago. Embodying their spirit this is a brave modern and fiercely independent Tequila. It even has a black ribbon around its neck much like the ties the Dragones cavalry used to wear. Each numbered bottle is signed and engraved by hand testament to Casa Dragones’ meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Casa Dragones Joven Sipping Tequila is unbelievably complex for a crystal-clear spirit. The aromas are fresh and floral with hints of ripe citrus and roasted agave. On the palate there’s poached pear peppery spices toasted hazelnut and a creaminess that’s verging on crème brûlée or marzipan. We recommend drinking this neat from a Champagne flute or a Sherry copita glass preferably alongside Mexican cuisine. Its complexity plays wonderfully with the nixtamilised corn flavour of homemade tacos and it seems to become even richer when paired with Mole Coloradito. Alternatively simply sip it at the end of a meal alongside a piece of praline.
