Grolleau 2018 - Catherine & Pierre Breton

Catherine & Pierre Breton

Grolleau 2018

Summertime, and the living is easy. Catherine, Pierre and the rest of the glowing and healthy looking Breton family have created possibly our favourite reds for hot weather. They just seem to be having so much fun on their organic and biodynamic vineyards in the Loire Valley. You get the sense that every day is a jolly adventure, and you can taste that in every drop of natural wine they produce.

Grolleau is a dark red grape variety that produces low alcohol, light-bodied wines with refreshing acidity. Although often used for rosé, the Bretons have created an exhilarating red from it, and the sensation of drinking it is perfectly summed up by the trapeze artists on the label. It swings you through the air with a thrilling and daring combo of cherry sweets, crunchy cranberry, wild strawberry, yeast red apple cider, summer breezes and rustic charm. Drink it chilled at picnics, in the garden or with nibbly food, and pray the summer fun never ends.
