Whispering Angel Rosé 2018 Jeroboam 3000ml
Whispering Angel is without a doubt the most iconic Provence rosé on the planet and its producer Château d’Esclans sets the benchmark for the entire category. This is quadrupled when served from an enormous Jeroboam. Bottled holiday sunshine, this luxurious vegan pink has the mass appeal that others can only dream of. Not only is it fast becoming the new Champagne for millennials, but it’s also being loaded in huge volumes onto superyachts all over the Côte d’Azur and beyond, not to mention countless listings on a who’s who roll call of the world’s hottest restaurants.
2018 is “a sublime vintage for Whispering Angel” according to wine critic Matthew Jukes, and one that adds “an otherworldly texture to the already ravishing perfume and taste. Indeed the flavour is the embodiment of its name like never before.” Matthew Jukes has previously noted that “you could drink it from midday to midnight”; something that we fully intend to do. Sadly Château d’Esclans’ extraordinary oenologist Patrick Léon passed away in late 2018, making this his very last Whispering Angel. The mantle will be passed to his talented son Bertrand. This dramatic summer rosé is packed with raspberries and redcurrants, pink grapefruit zest, strawberries and cream, crisp peach and orange blossom. All of this comes together in an experience that can only be compared to drinking pink silk.
The history of the blue-shuttered and hydrangea-surrounded Château d’Esclans dates back to the 12th Century, but Sacha Lichine of the famous Bordeaux family revolutionised the estate in 2006 when he turned the focus on to premium rosé. Now its monumental Provence rosés are household names and quite simply must-haves.£5.83 per 100.00ml
