Clos Canon Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2010 - Château Canon

Château Canon

Clos Canon Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2010

Clos Canon is the rarely seen second wine of Château Canon – a fashionable Bordeaux estate that joined Château Rauzan-Ségla and Napa Valley’s St. Supéry Estate under the ownership of Chanel.

This wine was made by the highly respected John Kolasa before he retired. Born in Scotland, Kolasa became a French teacher, before embarking on a wine adventure that would take him to Château Latour and then onto the neighbour of Mouton-Rothschild, Rauzan-Ségla. 2010 was an outstanding vintage in Saint-Emilion, so as expected the legendary winemaker created opulent wines. Clos Canon is a second wine that could give many a Grand Vin a run for its money. Predominantly Merlot with a splash of Cabernet Franc for structure and tannin, it oozes raspberry, cherry, wild strawberry, plum, blackberry, dark chocolate and rose petals. Earning itself 92 points from wine critic James Suckling, and 90 points from Wine Spectator, Clos Canon 2010 is a wonderful glimpse into a top vintage and a great winemaker.

Château Canon is located on top of Saint-Emilion’s much-coveted limestone plateau and for a long time was headed up by the legendary John Kolasa. Now owned by Chanel, as you can imagine, no expense is spared.
