Grand Vin Pauillac 2007 - Château Pichon-Longueville

Château Pichon-Longueville

Grand Vin Pauillac 2007

“Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is arguably the single hottest château on Bordeaux’s Left Bank right now.” – Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Created in the year the Rouzauds – one of the wine world’s most powerful families and owners of Champagne Louis Roederer, Domaines Ott, Ramos Pinto, Maison Delas and Champagne Deutz – took over this prestigious Left Bank château. In a challenging vintage they produced a striking wine.

Château Pichon Lalande 2007 has been described by the highly respected wine critic Antonio Galloni as “an excellent choice for drinking now… there is more than enough depth to support another 15-20 years of fine drinking.” Lighter bodied, as you might expect from a cooler vintage like this, there’s black fruit, tobacco, cedar, Polish plum chocolates, cassis and a wild, refreshing and foresty feel like walking through the woods on a windy autumn day. Pair with autumnal dishes; think roasts, umami and earthy flavours.

To give it its full name the ‘super second’ Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is one of Pauillac’s big stars, in spite of the exceedingly stiff competition. Robert Parker considers it “one of Pauillac’s most consistently brilliant wines”, with the ability to “rival the three famous First Growth of this commune”, something that it frequently does. This is quite simply not to be missed.
